6mm Moderns - Meet you in Leningrad

Getting more 6mm fun in with Scott and Aaron, we plotted during the week for a Sunday game at Scotts newly done place.

Game narrative: ze Germans we super keen on counterattacks as soon as the balloon went up and expected to be somewhere south of Leningrad by wk 2-3…..

Soviet front forces have dispersed the tripline of US forces and breached the main line of defence.
A Soviet Operational Maneuver Group (OMG!) has passed through the still sizzling 1st echelon forces and pushed forward toward it’s goals.
Due to heavy NATO rear area interdiction and targeting of bridging assets the OMG has been forced to stop for specialist reinforcement & resupply earlier than expected.
The West Germans had been chomping at the bit and leapt at the opportunity to unleash their Panzers.

The year was 1979, a good year for new beginnings on the other side of the world. But in West Germany, some tourist had kicked Brezhnev's dog and he demanded to seek an apology.
Attacker is elements of a West German Panzer Battalion & Aufklarungs Battalion rated GOOD worth 6000pts attacking elements of a Soviet Tank Division rated FAIR worth 4000pts. Soviets had Recon elements rated as Average.
Mission is FFoT3's Counterattack, Attacker moves on to try and kill Defender who starts in 1st third of the board, playing long table edges. VP for formation kills, bolded in army lists.
Soviet forces forming up. Ended up borring T-72A's as stand-ins for T-64A's.

The table, built by Kieran of http://6mm.wargaming.info/index.htm fame, its gorgeous!

 The Bad Guys:
PzGren Ko
PzGren Ko (not fielded)
Angry Germans
1st Ko of Leopard 1A3's
The gorgeous Gepard

Aufklarung platoons
Heavy Aufklarung
The Good Guys:

Scary T-80B, were going to play as T-64A's
Gas station, prized by advancing formations for chips and Coke.

Divisional Artillery, MRLs are standing in for Uragan

My Left Fist - Soviet Reserve T-64A Battalion, such high hopes...

My Right Fist backing up Reg SPAA, did some good, too late.

This WG position was the tough nut which soaked a ton of fire and burnt everything around it

Flank attack to the rear of a T-64A Btn...not looking good!
All fired, no kills...silence falls briefly...

In brief the Soviets waited for their deaths with uplifting stoic socialist songs and affirmative remarks on communal farming. The Germans provided them with brutal feedback on their efficiency and timeliness and the Soviets were routed off the board. About 4 hrs of gametime, 3 turns of play and a ton of fun. In the 3rd turn I got 10 Fire units worth of 122mm & 152mm fire for zero real effect...much amusedment.
Final result was 1 VP to Scott for cleaning the clocks of the r-hand T-64A Btn, while the survivor from a shattered Leopard Ko made it's QC and stuck around.
